Guadalupe Center gives away new shoes to school kids
This nice charity provides new shoes for kids in need.
Many of the children receiving the new shoes, said Aviles, come from families living at or below the poverty level. Without the center’s help, they would be forced to go back to school wearing old shoes they have outgrown, often by two or three sizes.
They also make sure to size the childrens’ feet properly and provide wide shoes when they are needed!
Once they finished their lunch, the children trooped back onto the bus, each clutching a shoebox. Herman Rito-Diaz, age 9, showed off his prize — New Balance Achievas, size 4E, extra wide. The staff did one last head count, and the kids, and their shoes, headed back to Immokalee, ready to start off the new school year on the right foot.
A great charity giving away such an important thing is a nice reminder of what people can do for each other.
